Audrey Assad: "Humble"

About Audrey Assad:

Audrey Assad, an American singer-songwriter born to a Syrian refugee father and a Virginian mother, began her musical journey at an early age, mastering the piano by two and eventually settling in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Her career took off in the realm of contemporary Christian music, with her debut album “The House You’re Building” garnering critical acclaim and commercial success upon its release in 2010. Assad’s musical prowess led her to collaborate with notable figures in the Christian music scene like Chris Tomlin and Matt Maher. Over time, Assad’s sound evolved, influenced by her diverse musical upbringing and her deepening Catholic faith. This evolution saw her transition to a more liturgical and worship-focused style, reflected in albums like “Fortunate Fall” and “Inheritance,” where she reimagined traditional hymns alongside original compositions.

Moving to Nashville in 2008 marked a pivotal moment for Assad, where she recorded her EP “Firefly” and later signed with Sparrow Records. Her subsequent albums, including “Heart” and “Evergreen,” continued to showcase her distinctive blend of heartfelt lyricism and melodic richness. Assad’s music not only draws from her Catholic faith but also integrates elements of literature and poetry, creating a unique musical tapestry that resonates with listeners across religious backgrounds. With her independent label, Fortunate Fall Records, Assad further solidified her artistic freedom, producing albums that reflect her evolving spiritual journey and musical growth. Through her music, Assad communicates a deeply personal and introspective connection with her faith, inviting audiences to join her in moments of worship and contemplation.
