I love Thanksgiving! It’s one of the last non-commercialized holiday here in the U.S. Below you’ll find some great piano solo (and duet) selections for a variety of levels.
1. “Turkey in the Straw” (Late Beginner Solo)
Turkey in the Straw is a fun little romp for late beginners that is a great recital solo. This piece is always a hit, especially with your “speed demon” students who love playing fast!

2. “Turkey Trot” (Early Intermediate Piano Solo)
Turkey Trot, composed by Gary Johnston, is a bright, jazzy little piece for early intermediates with lots of syncopation and a half-time walking bass line.

3. “Gratitude” (Late Beginner/Early Intermediate Piano Solo)
Gratitude, composed by Rick Robertson, is an early intermediate lyrical solo that is suitable for recitals and service playing. This contemplative solo is a great one for the season of gratitude and thankfulness!

4. “Simple Gifts” (Early Intermediate Piano Solo)
The traditional Shaker melody arranged in a contemplative lyrical style for early intermediates. This solo also features bits of J.S. Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze.”

March of the Scarecrows, composed by Gary Johnston, is an early intermediate level Sousa-style march in 6/8 used by the scarecrows as they set off for work in the corn fields on a bright August day!
