Mild & Mellow Sheet Music Series:

Back in the summer of 2024 I started playing the piano live for yoga flow classes at a studio that I attend. This has prompted me to create new arrangements that are both elegant, lyrical, and well-suited as background music while people are attending a class.

I’ve gone back to a lot of songs I arranged many years ago and re-imagined them with this purpose in mind. Even though I have created these for use in yoga sessions, these would all be great for any performance occasion where mellow background music is called for.

What’s different about these new lyrical versions?

1. In a lot of cases, I’ve re-set the vocal line up in a higher range to achieve a more “sparkling” sound.

2. These versions now include the lyrics to the songs. Admittedly I used to skip this step in the arranging process because it was rather tedious and often I would stylize the melody lines or truncate the verses via repeat signs. These versions are fuller, more complete, and it’s nice to have the lyrics there!

3. Many of these arrangements are “extended” with added solo sections. My goal here was to create arrangements with slightly longer run-times.

4. Some these pieces aren’t necessarily “lyrical” in their original forms and have been heavily stylized to suit the needs of the occasion. It has resulted in some suprisingly nice settings that are uniquely styled yet still very recognizable.
