šŸŽ§ Listen to ā€œMorning Themeā€ with teacher duet

šŸ§ About ā€œMorning Themeā€

  1. Big note, landscape format is great for young and/or students with vision-related disabilities

  2. Two versions included: one with (strategic) note names and one without note names

  3. Single-line melody in five-finger position (G major) with no shared keys

  4. Primer level

  5. Great way to introduce the concept of tied notes

  6. Simple, harmonically lush, teacher duet included

šŸ’” Side-Project Ideas:

  1. Write some lyrics

  2. Play the piece in different registers on the keyboard (do students like the piece played higher or lower?)

  3. Have students ā€œtransposeā€ the piece by moving the hands to a different position. Donā€™t worry if you run into interval issues with accidentals in other tonal centers (this is a good lesson in and of itself)

  4. If possible (if their feet can reach the floor, or you have a pedal extender) explore using the damper pedal (even just half-pedalling) through this piece.

Freebies: Lines & Spaces Songs

Whether you love or loathe mnemonic devices itā€™s fair to say that these tunes are not that. Rather, they are humorous little melodies that provide a fun way for students toĀ play, and hopefully sing, an entire silly song, giving them actual on-the-road experience in reading and playing every line or space on a single staff. As a bonus: they're totally free!
